This weeks theme for periodic heroes is Akira. So I decided to go with doing Tetsuo!! I recently went out and bought the phone book sized mangas. But I have seen the movie. I was always pretty inspired by the scene in the movie where Tetsuo freaks out and goes all crazy. So what better way to pay tribute to the Manga and Movie, then to make a really gnarly illustration. Like always check out the rest of the post on periodic heroes blog.

That was quite the story that Katsuhiro Otomo did.  It was one of the first Japanese comics to get a translation published over here in the States, too.  Many times better than the X-Men in some ways (by 1985, the X-Men were starting to hit "rerun" plots for me).
